His Heritage
Remembering this guy of mine - his birthday pressing in- so grateful for all the moments, the memories, the life we shared. Two souls, one life together, adding three little souls into it, albeit, without their consent but by God’s design!
Life was messy, imperfect, and marvelous all mixed together. It was ours, and it was good.
So as the days of Tod’s absence continues to grow, he in the heavenlies and me earthbound, his legacy pours out more and more over our lives now making me keenly aware that our wanderings upon this earth do not leave others untouched even after we are gone.
God’s movement upon Tod’s legacy continues to unfold like a stream making its way down the mountain side. A spiritual inheritance that grows deeper and wider for our family, through which God moves and provides the healing and hope of Jesus Christ for us to wade out into it one step at a time.
God’s eternal purposes are found through life in Christ, and I can hear Tod’s voice echoing the truths of God’s word now as his eyes are fixed upon the fulfillment of his faith in the presence of His Savior, Jesus Christ.
From the beginning, God's call and promises never change:
- Believe Me.
- Trust Me.
- Follow Me.
- Love Me.
- Lay your life down for Me.
Why? Because that is what Jesus has done for us. He laid it all down that we would have the eternal nature of His hope filled salvation that transforms all our brokenness. A hope abundant with redemption, restoration, and resurrection. That is the living legacy Jesus Christ invites us into with Him.
When we become His, we become a part of His heritage, and that is a heritage, a legacy, that will last long after our names are forgotten. So teach us to number our days, that we may learn to sow to the glory of the imperishable name of Jesus Christ.
